So after a flurry of activity yesterday I figured I would squeak one more out here. So. . . .wee little Mino is THREE months old today.
He was hungry for this months photoshoot so I didn't get any smiles, but I did managed to capture the shade change when he goes from content. . .
To starting to get annoyed. . ..
To royally pissed. . .. I would go so far as to say that color is in the purple family, it exceeds the red tones.
Lucky for Mino, Martin was present for this months pictures and swooped in and rescued him before I could get some more angry baby pictures. He is still looking at me like I am a nut job though.
And because this is a mom blog, here are some more cute pictures. We are still in awe of how he comes out of the bath and looks cuter than ever and Martin and I emerge and, well lets just say, we have looked cuter. He likes bath time, it makes him relax, and we only had to drain the tub once this week. Yes I said week, we are not every day bathers here.
I am not going to lie and say that I can't remember what life was like
without him - because at 230 in the morning I remember that I used to
sleep all night long - but I sure do like the change with him here. It is so nice to come home from work to a little baby smiling in the crib up at you. And to wake up to his cries only to walk in the room and see a little grin. To have someone to cuddle with anytime you want - he really doesn't say no. And to look at him when he is being extra cute and know that I made him. And to look at him when he is mad (up above) and know that must be my personality coming out already.
Have I ever mentioned that I am glad to live in the digital age?!?!? This was Mino's first week of daycare. We had a practice day before he started (three weeks ago just prior to knowing he was sick) where he screamed the entire three and a half hours I left him there. I walked in and one of the ladies said, "Oh, you are Benjamin's mom. I held him the entire time you were gone." He came home and slept for like 37 hours straight.
Anyway, I was dreading this like the plague but they make you feel good and take pictures of them during the day when they are not screaming and email them to you. Thank goodness for that. (I still called every day to check on him during my lunch hour though. . . )
Anyway, here is Mino at daycare. There are a couple little ladies that just started there too, which maybe is why he is behaving a little better.
First things first, Mino started getting a little fussy our last day in WI then it just increased. A week later sure enough the little bugger was full blown sick with his first cold, what a way to usher in the new year. We took him to the doctor where we learned that he (in three weeks) was now 14lbs 9 ounces. The doc told us to wait it out, but that was a long two weeks and they were my first two weeks back to work :(
Luckily Martin had one week of paternity leave left and Nana was willing to come to watch him for the second so that I could go to work and not send him to daycare. I don't know if they would have even taken him. Poor pitiful guy. Then he got constipated on top of that. And let me tell you, like mother like son, he does not like prune juice! The worst part about sick babies is that you can't tell them what to do to make them feel better. His nose was really stuffed up, but we couldn't tell him to breathe through his mouth, he would just snort and snark while trying to breathe through his nose. Then he gave it to Martin:
After not learning my lessons with the Badgers, we invited Kate and Claude over to watch the Packers in the playoffs.. . . and we all know how that went. At least Nana is off the hook for being the bad luck curse for my team. Mino likes the Pack though. .
So a little side about myself here. . . I started work on Jan 3, 2012 after getting notice that I was hired on May 26, 2011. Granted I birthed a child midway in there, but still it did take a while. I really like my new job, it seems like the facility is a step up for UCHC and the other dentists are all about my age and are all really nice so it seems to be a great fit!! But needless to say it has been an adjustment going to work for 9 hour days (I know waaa waa waaaa) rather than my good old 8 before, and commuting on top of that, and having a baby at home. I have been a pretty big slacker with pictures but got a couple cute ones.
Martin loves him a naked baby:
And I love me a baby in general:
Mino looks particularly cute now when he sleeps:
And the little guy is really not a fan of tummy time, but we managed to find a way to kind of get him to rest on his belly and use his neck muscles which makes for some new faces - crazy alien:
And side headed:
On that note we have kind of noticed, and you will too if you scroll back, that he really likes to tilt his head to the right. When he was first born we thought it was because he had that huge bruise on the left side of his head, and that probably started it, but now it is evolved into a muscle discrepancy from one side to the other called Torticollis. No biggie because he is really young and we are working on correcting it with proping him on his side at night and we have exercises for him, but cool to see something I learned about in Anatomy resurface.
I was able to get a picture that captures his eyes pretty well, he has these amazing eye lashes and bright blue eyes. Little pumpkin:
And a new event in his life. He likes sitting up looking around more. He will throw a fit sometimes when we are holding him on our shoulders because he wants to see what is going on. We whipped out the swing after a failed attempt about a month ago and he loves it now! That and he is starting to grab things, he is just getting so talented. .
And here he is passed out after a little too much milk:
And I am sure you noticed in the title something about Wallace. He has developed a disturbing new habit that google informed me is him reaching out for attention since the baby is here, but poor Martin bears the brunt of it. Here he is without Martin in bed, but don't be fooled, Martin is startled awake in the night with him doing this next to his head on the pillow. Wallace also loves any of Mino's blankets and my University of Wisconsin blanket. Poor guy. We play with him even more now, but I think he enjoys this new little past time of his. The worst is when he does this while looking at you. Yes. It is just plain wrong.
After the excitement of turning two months old Mino had to prepare for his first Christmas !! This year was particularly important because Gryffendor was trying to steal the thunder from poor Minos cuteness. We will get to that. First things first we had to load everyone up into the Subaru and make the trek to Clintonville. Mino and I were seasoned veterans at this trip, but we added Wallace and Martin to the mix and that made for a clown car full!
We made it in record time though and the DeWolfs rushed the car to swoop poor Mino away leaving Martin and I to unload. Mino and Nana had some quality time though.
Soon after arriving began the Christmas of babies! Gryff was already fitting right in and poor Auntie Sarah didn't know where to start with the cuddling. Now, as an aside, Sarah has been pretty obsessed with little Mino and I think her biological clock starting ticking big time. Now that was partially satiated with knowing she was getting a puppy but she was still pretty baby crazy, until the first night with Gryff. I would wake up to feed Mino and I would see Sarah stumbling up the stairs after having to let the puppy outside. The strange thing was that Grandpa Jack was actually asleep during these midnight encounters! Anyway, Auntie Sarah really didn't make it out of her pajamas for most of the weekend.
Gryff and Mino are only a week apart, and for the time being are about the same size . . .
Martin and Sarah both had fun cuddling with their new nephews as well:
The weather was absolutely phenomenal and atypical for this time of year here in the upper midwest so Mino got to go exploring the streets of Clintonville, and Gryff got to be introduced to leash walking and snow!
Sadly, he is now too big for this little bear suit :( I didn't have a camera, I wish I did to capture the essence of a new puppy on a leash. . . Gryff really enjoyed Christmas, in fact he was a little present thief. Now this looks like a posed picture taken at any good for nothing photostore, but in fact, Gryff stole this present from under the tree and ran around the house with it until he found the right spot to try and open it.
The new Felices family attempted the first of *hopefully* annual Christmas photos, but between me trying to hide the damage that little guy did to my gut, a screaming baby, and a husband/father who does not like to pose or smile for pictures it wasn't too smooth.. . Here is the best one:
But I really like this one because it shows everything we were trying to hide:
After a long day of presents the beasties had to relax. .
I really wanted to put Mino into this mix, but Gryff's teeth are just a little too sharp and his muscles a little too strong to trust him next to the baby. And I am feeling a little less than witty so here are a couple little photo montages. .
Baby bath:
Basking in the sun playing on the gym mat:
Cute Mino faces:
And I should have learned after the fiasco on October 22, Mino's first Badger Game that perhaps he wasn't the best luck for the team, but to prove it here is all ready for the Rose Bowl:
